FEU Tech students and Top 1 Placers of the 10th, 11th, and 12th TOPCIT (Test of Practical Competency in Information and Communications Technology) Philippines examinations were formally invited by the Institute of ICT Planning & Evaluation (IITP) to participate in the prestigious TOPCIT Human Resource Development (HRD) Program in South Korea.
Carl Justin Yanuario, Patrick Daniel Belarmino, and Dane Ross Quintano, along with their faculty guardian, Prof. Beau Gray Habal, share highlights from their adventure in this two-part feature. Read the first part of this story here.
PART II: Discovering Korea’s Culture and Winter Charm
While the TOPCIT Human Resource Development Program placed strong emphasis on technology and innovation, it also offered FEU Tech’s delegates a meaningful opportunity to experience Korea’s culture, history, and winter landscape, transforming the academic immersion into a holistic global experience.
At Daemyung Vivaldi Park, the delegation had a cold but cozy snow experience—from walking through thick blankets of snowpacks to taking videos and photos in full winter gears amidst a breathtaking landscape. For some, it was their first time seeing or experiencing snow, making the moment unforgettable.
They also joined the Seoul City Tour Bus, giving them a scenic and historical overview of Seoul’s top landmarks, architecture, and bustling districts. One highlight stop was Gwanghwamun, the grand gate leading to Gyeongbokgung Palace, where they captured more photos and soaked in the cultural atmosphere.
The group also went to Gangnam, posing in front of the iconic golden Gangnam Style sculpture—a lively symbol of modern Korean pop culture.
Representing the Philippines on the Global ICT Stage
The TOPCIT HRD Program gave the FEU Tech representatives a rare opportunity to witness world-leading ICT developments, engage with global technology hubs, and learn from international best practices. The experiences they gathered, from AI conventions to immersive tech centers, enriched their perspectives as future IT professionals.
These students can attest to a wide range of enriching encounters and memorable activities during their brief yet deeply rewarding stay in South Korea—experiences that aspiring TOPCIT topnotchers would need to pursue with equal determination to appreciate fully.
As FEU Tech continues to make its mark on the global ICT stage, the achievements of its students stand as a powerful reminder of what Filipino talent can accomplish—when excellence meets opportunity, and education transcends borders.
