This coming school year, the College of Computer Studies and Multimedia Arts added two new specializations for their Bachelor of Information Technology programs - INNOVATION AND BUSINESS and BUSINESS ANALYTICS.
This week, we will focus on BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY with a Specialization in Business Analytics.
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology studies the use of computers and computer software to plan, install, customize, operate, manage, administer, and maintain information technology infrastructure. The program also deals with the study of design, development, and implementation of solutions that integrate information technology into businesses and organizations.
Business Analytics is a specialization that will educate students about the different sources of data, data management techniques, the importance of data, and how it can be utilized to make informed business decisions. Students will also develop an awareness of required ethical norms, compliance with the corporate code of ethics, policies, rules, and regulations as well as the applicable laws governing data confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements in business.
Using an integrated approach, the BSIT with Business Analytics program will provide students with an overview of the current trends in information technology that drives businesses. It will focus on the interrelationships among the functional areas of business as well as sensitivity to the economic, social, technical, legal, and international environment in which the business must operate. The program aims to improve competencies in understanding data structures, data analysis, and data interpretation to aid in achieving the organization’s business goals and address operational challenges in any industry. Further, this program aspires to instill and nurture the important qualities and skills essential for business leadership and organizational success.
