MILES

MILES stands for Mastery-based Individualized Learning Enhancement System. It is a pioneering educational system that extends the capability of Canvas to ensure mastery and individualized learning.


Mastery learning is an innovative strategy in education that emphasizes the need for students to achieve a level of mastery in prerequisite topics before moving on to learn subsequent topics. This helps build a solid foundation for present and future learning. The learning environment is enhanced further by individualized learning where faculty members provide mentoring and tutoring support to individual students. With MILES, students learn and practice their lessons using well-designed content and assessments geared toward mastery of the lesson—encouraging students to reach higher levels of achievement and develop more confidence in their ability to learn. Canvas is FEU Alabang, FEU Diliman, and FEU Tech’s learning management system (LMS).


MILES Add-ons

Canvas is the most popular learning management system used by the world’s leading universities including Yale and Harvard. It is designed to empower both teachers and students by making an engaging learning environment with video-based learning and collaboration tools.


BigBlueButton is integrated in Canvas that facilitates communication between students and teachers. Students can send quick inquiries with the chat feature. Through its Conferences feature, faculty members can host synchronous online classes and academic consultations for students.


Through G Suite for Education, students enjoy unlimited cloud storage on Google drive, thus making it easier to download and upload online learning materials. They can also maximize the use of best-in-class productivity tools for teaching and learning such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Forms among others.

Microsoft Teams allows students to freely communicate and collaborate with their professors through chat capabilities and video conferencing. To put it simply, Teams brings together the best parts of Office 365 in a single tool.


Microsoft Office 365 expands the student’s ability for online learning with the use of familiar and always accessible applications like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. It is a productivity cloud that brings together best in-class Office apps with powerful cloud services, device management, and advanced security.
