Influence and Innovation 2025: A Look into Digital Presence on Philippine Social Media

Exploring the Realities of Innovation Even Behind the Screens

The FEU Tech Innovation Center (FTIC) successfully mounted “Influence and Innovation: A Look into Digital Presence on Philippine Social Media,” an insightful and timely fireside chat that brought together students, creatives, educators, and digital enthusiasts for an afternoon of learning, reflection, and inspiration. Held on June 18 2025.  The event highlighted how social media has become a powerful space for storytelling, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and self-expression in the Philippines.

As digital platforms continue to shape public discourse and personal identity, the event aimed to unpack what it truly means to be influential in today’s online world—beyond likes, views, and followers.

At the heart of the discussion was an honest exploration of the opportunities and challenges that come with building a digital presence. Speakers openly shared the realities behind content creation: the pressure to stay relevant, the responsibility of having an audience, and the emotional and mental toll that online visibility can bring.

Rather than presenting a polished or idealized version of influencer life, the fireside chat emphasized authenticity, resilience, and purpose—qualities that resonate strongly with young Filipinos navigating social media both personally and professionally.

Guiding the Conversation: Finding Purpose and Identity

The event was hosted by seasoned media personality and social media figure Eri Neeman, whose presence set the tone for a meaningful and engaging exchange. His message, “Build who you are and find who you are,” resonated deeply with the audience, encouraging participants to reflect on how digital platforms can either shape or distort one’s sense of self.

Through thoughtful questions and candid dialogue, the conversation moved beyond surface-level trends and into deeper discussions about identity, values, and intentional content creation.

Voices Shaping the Philippine Digital Landscape

The fireside chat featured a diverse lineup of Filipino social media influencers, content creators, storytellers, and advocates who are making a mark in their respective digital spaces. Joining the conversation were Gabe Pineda, Julianne Soriano (Chucky Hits), Daniele Bruce, Gail Banawis, Janlee Dungca, Justin Dizon, and Markybap.

Each speaker shared personal journeys—how they started, the obstacles they faced, and the lessons they learned along the way. Topics ranged from building a community and staying creative, to handling online criticism and using influence responsibly.

Influence with Impact

A key takeaway from the discussion was that influence carries responsibility. The speakers highlighted how social media can be used as a tool for advocacy, education, and positive change, especially in a country where digital platforms play a major role in shaping public opinion and culture.

The conversation reinforced the idea that Filipino creators have the power to uplift voices, tell meaningful stories, and inspire action—proving that “Sikat ang Pinoy!” not just in popularity, but in purpose and impact.

A Special Moment for Fans and Students

Adding excitement to the event was a special participation from familiar faces of Pinoy Big Brother. Their presence energized the audience and served as a reminder of how mainstream media and digital platforms continue to intersect, creating new opportunities for visibility and engagement in the modern entertainment landscape.

Strengthening FTIC’s Commitment to Innovation

Influence and Innovation is part of the FEU Tech Innovation Center’s ongoing efforts to create spaces where technology, creativity, and human-centered innovation meet. By hosting conversations like this, FTIC continues to empower students and young professionals to critically engage with the digital world and harness it for meaningful growth.

The event concluded with renewed inspiration among attendees—encouraged to be more intentional, creative, and responsible in their digital journeys.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the FEU Tech Innovation Center remains committed to championing conversations that prepare the next generation of Filipino innovators, creators, and leaders—online and beyond.
